Dear Parents

Christmas Carols Night

Tomorrow evening in the school grounds we will conduct the Christmas carols commencing at 6.00pm. The following is repeated from last week's newsletter.

This year we ask that:

  • Parents with blankets to sit front and centre of the stage area - prime seating!! This is to facilitate best viewing and encourage you to join in with carols when asked.
  • Parents on chairs are to be seated at the back of this area.
  • Students in their class groups will be sitting at the sides of the viewing area.
  • Students are to be at their classrooms by 5.45pm at the latest. "Costumes" will vary from year level to year level and your child should be aware of what is required, if not please speak to their class teacher concerned.
  • Students will be dismissed from the classrooms immediately following the carols.
  • Parking is to be provided on the oval. Please enter oval from Querrin Avenue (northern side of school) before parking in rows facing the southern boundary. Exit the school grounds on to Chelmer Avenue (southern boundary) at the completion of the carols.
  • Some parental assistance required to take the stage back into the hall following the Carols.

Specialist programmes (Italian and Music Tutors)

This week is the last week for Italian lessons. Thank you to our Italian teachers for 2014, Senora Iacobelli and Senora Trent. This week is also the final week of instrumental music tuition and my thanks to all of the tutors who have worked with Orana students throughout 2014. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge Ms Draper for her role as Coordinator and Manager of the Instrumental programme within the school. One would be hard pressed to find any primary school anywhere in this state with the numbers, the variety of instruments and, the status that the programme here has.

Year 3 Laptop Distribution

This event will occur at 6.30pm on Wednesday 10 December in the Year 4 classroom for all families except those who have made other arrangements. The session will last an hour as parents and students are guided through several start-up procedures. Mrs Perrigo requires all attending parents to bring details of their personal Apple ID and password so that we can set up student ID's. Several parents have indicated they do not have an Apple ID. Click here to find out how to make one. This is a very special time for our students and we look forward to a happy and productive time together. Please contact Mrs Perrigo if you have any queries on

Class Lists

This year the class lists will be displayed electronically. In addition to the physical list placed on the noticeboard outside OSHC, we would like to send the list out as a special newsletter on Friday 19 December. If you have already subscribed to the weekly newsletter you will be sent the whole school list. If you have not subscribed to the newsletter, please become a subscriber via the school website. Where circumstances exist that you do NOT want your child's name placed on the class lists, it is imperative that you inform the Front Office of this before close of business on Tuesday 16 December. Your child's name will not appear on the class list and you will be informed of the class placement for your child on Friday 19 December at the same time as everyone else by personal email. The school subscriber list is generally only for parents and grandparents of children here at Orana Catholic Primary School. I would ask however that the list not be copied in any form in respect of the privacy of individuals.

Special Photos

Band and Choir photos are now available at the office for collection.
