P&F Fundraiser

A vote of thanks is extended to those who worked extremely hard to ensure that last Saturday evening's P&F fundraiser (Night at the Races) was the success that it was. Thank you to the parents from the school community who came along in support of the event and to those within our school community who were sponsors of the various races on the night. The funds raised will be directed toward a new "spider web" climbing frame to be installed in the school.

2015 Class Placement

Discussions regarding class placements for next year will shortly commence. In consultation with your child's present class teacher, I will be compiling the class lists for 2015. There are a number of factors that must be taken into account when balancing class lists including academic ability, gender, interpersonal relationships, and social dynamics. Parental requests are an additional factor and I would like to make clear my policy on this.

Parental requests can only be met in exceptional circumstances. However, if you believe that there exists such circumstance in relation to your child, you are invited to outline this in writing, addressed to me and returned by Monday 7 November. No requests will be considered after this date and please do not ask your child for their preferred teacher, as this does not constitute an exceptional circumstance. When writing your request, please be clear in your reasoning, as unsubstantiated request cannot be considered.

Parent Information Sessions (2015)

In preparation for 2015, we are trialing a new timing for the Information sessions conducted by the different year levels. Initially, general information pertaining to the specific year levels will be posted on the school website as of early December 2014. For PK, K, PP, Year 1 and Year 2, the information sessions will be conducted on the morning of Friday 30 January between 9.00am and finished around 10.30am.

For some of these year levels we are inviting parents to bring in the book orders and unpack them into the desks in preparation for school, as well as the usual array of crepe paper and tissue box requests. We want the start of each school year to be a smooth one for your child and to take away some of the anxiety associated with Day One of a new school year.

With notification being given at this early time, we are asking that at least one parent from each family make themselves available to be present at the class meeting on the morning of Friday 30 January 2015 between 9.00am-10.30am. Parents with multiple children in these year levels will have an opportunity to meet briefly with the other year level teacher on that day to receive the same information.

For parents with a child/children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, your class meetings will be conducted on the evening of Monday 16 February 2015 between 6.00pm-7.00pm.

School Board and P&F

Very important within a catholic school that we have parents prepared to volunteer their expertise and experience in promoting the well-being of the school. With this in mind, nominations are now being invited for a number of positions on the School Board and the P&F Executive. These forms have been distributed coinciding with today's newsletter, should you not receive a copy, more are available from the Front Office.

School Sports Carnival (Interschool)

This two-day event is to be held next week with our field event participants competing at Santich Park, Spearwood next Monday 3 November before the running and team events are held at the same venue on Thursday 6 November. Good luck to all year 3-6 participants involved.

Friday's assembly is a whole school one with honour certificates for students in the junior year levels.
