Dear Parents

Welcome back to the start of this, the final school term for 2014. This is the term that seems to simply fly by and being only nine weeks in duration, it will be Christmas before we know it. There is a changeover from winter to summer uniform in place at the moment and children are able to wear either winter or summer uniform for the first two weeks of the school term. As from Monday 27 October all students will need to be in correct summer uniform. The Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.30am -10.30am for Term 4.

Staffing Matters

New to the school at this point in time is Mrs Deb Goodwin who joins us as the school's Administration Officer. As indicated in earlier newsletters, Deb has worked in similar positions at Leeming and South Fremantle Senior High School and also previously worked in Student Support Services at Corpus Christi College. I am sure you will all join me in making Deb most welcome to Orana School. Miss Meagan Baronas has replaced Mrs Di McKay in Year 6 for the duration of this term; Miss Mikali Fee replaced Mrs Santa Ruffo as Education Assistant (three weeks) and Miss Alex Glasson replaced Mrs Lyn Perrigo for two weeks. All are long service leave replacements.

School Parking

There seems to be a habit creeping in whereby some children are, at the request of their parents, being picked up directly outside the Office during the hours of 3.10pm - 3.30pm. This is not part of the school pick-up zone, nor is it a supervised area. The options that are available for parents in motor vehicles to collect children are either through the designated drop off / pick up zone (the "Green Shed") or from the area known as the "Back Gate". Any child waiting near the car park immediately outside the Office before 3.30pm will now be directed to sit inside the Office area or to the Green Shed area. For safety reasons, pick up from the school after 3.30pm should be from the area immediately outside the Office.

School Sports

Next Tuesday 21 October is the intra-school sports carnival held here on-site commencing at 9.15am. Parents are most welcome to attend the carnival. Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to assist on the day. If you are required, you will receive a letter from Miss Mavric outlining responsibilities and roles on the day.

Whole school assembly this Friday. All parents are most welcome to attend.
