Farewell to Mr Miller

This will be the last week for all instrumental lessons. A big thank you to all our hard working instrumental tutors. The only one that we will miss next year is our bass guitar teacher, Mr Leigh Miller, who joined us in term 2 this year. Leigh will be relocating to Germany in 2015 where he will be busy touring and promoting his new album. We wish Leigh all the best with his music and the new country!

Guitar Concert

Thanks to Mrs Alexander for organising the guitar concert last Thursday night. It was great to see what the students had achieved over the year. It was also great to see two past Orana students, Joshua and Shannon, who performed in the Corpus Guitar Quartet.

Instrumental Music Programme 2015

Notes have been distributed to students in Years 3 - 5 for those interested in playing a musical instrument at Orana in 2015. There are limited places available for each instrument and positions are filling fast, so please return your notes to Ms Draper by Monday 8 December if you want to be considered for a place next year. Continuing students also need to return their forms to secure their place.

Musical Instrument Returns

Students leaving Orana or not continuing in the instrumental programme in 2015 will need to return their school instruments to Ms Draper during week 9. Please make sure all straps and cleaning rods are returned with the instrument.

If you are continuing next year you can keep your instrument over the holidays so that you can practice. If your instrument needs any repairs or servicing, please let Ms Draper know as soon as possible. If you are considering purchasing an instrument for your child, please check with Ms Draper which brands are appropriate as there are many cheap, nasty instruments available online which are not suitable. Classical guitar students do require a particular type of guitar so please come and ask before you buy.

All rehearsals have now finished for the year. Both choirs will be performing tomorrow night at the Christmas Concert and some students will be performing at the Graduation Mass next Thursday night.
