Instrumental Music Program 2014

Notes have gone home to students, in Yrs 3-5, who are interested in playing a musical instrument at Orana in 2014. Places will be limited and priority will be given to continuing students. Some tutors will accept students in Year 3 if there are sufficient places and we feel the student is capable of making the commitment required. Mrs Draper is happy for you to come and discuss this with her if you have a current Yr 2 child who is interested.

CONTINUING STUDENTS MUST ALSO RETURN THE SLIP TO SECURE THEIR PLACE FOR NEXT YEAR.

Band And Choir Rehearsals For The Remainder Of The Year

Tuesday morning - Only the Junior Choir members who are singing at Stockland Riverton on Saturday 7 December need to attend this rehearsal. Wednesday Morning - Junior and Senior Choir Members who are singing at the Yr 6 Graduation Mass on Wednesday evening, 11 December, need to attend this rehearsal. If you are not singing at the Graduation Mass then you do not need to attend this rehearsal. Final rehearsal for the year will be Wednesday 11 December (Week 9).

Thursday Morning - Band Rehearsal is only for students who will be in the Orana Band in 2014. This includes band members in Yrs 3, 4 or 5 as well as any new members who have had an invite to hand over the last term. Final rehearsal for the year will be Thursday 5 December (Week 8).

Congratulations to Our Percussion Teacher!

Big congratulations to our percussion teacher, Miss Thea Rossen. Thea has been offered a scholarship to continue her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in Melbourne for 2014. This is a fabulous achievement as there are only 20 places offered Australia-wide on all instruments every year. Thea has just completed her Masters at UWA so will now put this study towards her PHD.

CRAZY SHIRT DAY THANK YOU

The "Crazy Shirt Day" was a resounding success. We raised enough money to provide 30 children, in Cambodia, with a school uniform. These children either come from very poor families or are orphans. Thank you very much for your generous support of this cause. The teachers and students of Year 6.

SPORT NEWS

On Tuesday, 38 Year 5 and Year 6 students, a fabulous parent support crew, Miss Mouttet and I travelled to Santich Park in Spearwood, for the CPSSA Interschool "Super 8's" Cricket carnival. Our 4 teams spent the day playing Super 8's against other CPSSA schools, with every player batting, bowling and fielding. We witnessed some great catches, big hits, fast-bowled wickets, sprints for the crease and impressive on-field tactics and teamwork amongst the players. Well done to all who participated on the day and thank you very much to our parent officials and supporters who gave their time to assist and cheer for Orana on the day. Thank you to Miss Mouttet for accompanying us to yet another Inter School Sporting event and ensuring we were looked after well.
