Prayer for the lighting of Advent Candles

O God,
as light comes from this candle,
may the blessing of Jesus Christ come to us,
warming our hearts and
brightening our way.
May Christ our Savior bring life
into the darkness of this world,
and to us, as we wait for his coming.

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we prepare for the end of the school year it is important that the children remain calm and focused amidst all the busyness. School routines and rules still apply - particularly in relation to uniform and hair. If your child's hair is long enough to touch their shoulders or it falls onto their face, then it must be tied back. This rule applies to both girls and boys.

Christmas T-Shirt

On Friday, 13th December, the last day of the school year, children are encouraged to wear a Christmas T-Shirt if they have one or a Christmas-coloured shirt. They must wear their sports shorts on the bottom. This is a fun way to start the holidays and there is no requirement to send in any money.

Christmas Carols Night

Thank you to all who attended our carols night last night. It was a lovely evening and the children sang beautifully. Thank you to the staff for preparing the children.

End of Year Mass

On Tuesday, 10 December at 10:00am in the Hall we will be celebrating our final whole school mass for the year. All children from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be attending. At the conclusion of this thanksgiving mass, the Year 6 Awards and the Loreto Award will be presented. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Message from the Cousins Family

Lachlan Cousins together with his parents Tim and Kristen and siblings Victoria and Campbell Cousins, wish to thank all the kind teachers, staff, parents of Orana for all of the wonderful help and support and prayers that we have received following Lachlan's recent accident and his hospitalization in Royal Perth and now in Shenton Park during his rehabilitation. It has made a difficult situation that much easier to handle and we would like to thank everyone very much.

Message from the Director of Catholic Education

Dear Parents

Over the past week you would have seen many media reports about the Abbott Government's withdrawal from the previously agreed funding model known as the Better Schools Plan.

I am very pleased to advise you that on December 2, the Prime Minister reversed his stance on this issue and has now given a commitment to deliver funding certainty for Catholic schools over the next four years.

This announcement delivers certainty for our system both in terms of the total amount of Federal funds available and the manner in which it is delivered. It will ensure that all of our schools are able to plan appropriately over the short to medium term to support the current and future needs of students and staff.

I commend the Federal Government for their commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students across the country.

Yours sincerely

Dr Tim McDonald

Director Catholic Education in WA

Have a safe and happy Christmas
