Dear Parents and Carers

Our term is rapidly coming to a close. We have a very busy few weeks left that include the Annual General Meetings of theSchool Board and the P&F, Carols Evening and Year 6 Graduation. Congratulations to our Year 3 students who made their First Reconciliation last Thursday evening. It was a very reverent occasion. Many thanks to Mrs Woodgate, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Davis, Mrs Tormay, Mrs Wall and Mrs Rego from the parish for their wonderful work with organizing the Sacrament.

Last week on Monday and Tuesday I attended information days on the new National Quality Standards that will apply to our year levels K-2. These standards will apply to the teaching and learning programme in these year levels. I spoke briefly at the P&F meeting on how they will apply to Orana classrooms. As more information becomes available the school community will be advised.

A number of families are dropping students off at school about 8:00am in the morning. A reminder that students should not be on the school grounds prior to 8:20am as the school does not provide supervision until 8:30am. Your help in this matter would be much appreciated.

The AGMs of the School Board and the P&F will be held in the School Hall on Thursday 21 November starting at 7:00pm. Please note the change in starting time. All positions will be declared open and people nominating should do so in writing to the Principal prior to the night. Forms are being sent home this week for people to nominate.

If you have a particular request regarding which class your child is placed in for the 2014 school year, please put your request in writing to Mr McMahon. All requests will be looked at, however, it is important to realise that the final decision as to which class a student is placed in rests with the school. All factors are considered and the decisions are made in the best interests of the school students. All written requests should be received by Mr McMahon by Friday, 8 November.

For the purposes of future planning, we need to be aware if students will not be returning in 2014. If you know that your child will not be returning to Orana, please inform the school office in writing as soon as possible.

Please note, Term Four concludes for students Friday 13 December.

Reports will be available for collection from the school office between 9:00am-3:00pm on Monday, 16 December. If you wish to have an interview with a classroom teacher, please ring the office and schedule an appointment time by Friday, 8 November. The 15-minute interview times will be between 9.00am and 2.30pm. Any report not collected on Monday, 16 December will be posted to the home address we have on file in the office.
