Dear Parents and Carers

We have had a great start to the last term of the year. Our students have settled down well and working hard in anticipation of the close of the school year on 13 December for the Christmas break. It is a busy term so I would ask that families keep a close eye on the updated term calendar sent home last week.

I would ask that the school community keep in their prayers our Year 3 students who will be making their First Reconciliation on Thursday 31 October, the first of the three Sacraments that they will make in Primary School.

On Tuesday we had our Athletics Carnival and the students are to be congratulated on the way they participated and cheered each other on during events. A huge thank you must go to Emma Harrison for organizing the day so well. There were many hours outside of school hours that she spent in organizing the day.

Last term we had 74 students participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition. Our students performed very well and we had 2 High Distinctions, 2 Distinctions and 27 with a Credit. Well done to all the students who participated in the competition.

This Friday, Australia celebrates World Teacher's Day. To honour our teaching staff there will be a special assembly in recognition of the work that they do year in and year out, work that often goes unrecognized. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work and dedication in delivering so well the school curriculum to our students.

I am away today and next Monday I will be attending PD at Yidarra. Miss Whyte and Mrs Woodgate will be in charge while I am away.

School Uniform

From the start of this term our students are required to wear their summer uniform.

Term Dates

Please note that the last day for students at school this term will be Friday 13 December.

Students Not Returning in 2014

For the purposes of future planning, we need to be aware if students will not be returning in 2014. If you know that your child will not be returning to Orana in 2014, please inform the school office in writing as soon as possible.

Orana Annual General Meetings

The School Board and P&F AGMs will be held on Thursday 21 November starting at 6.30pm in the school hall. Please click here to access nomination forms. I encourage interested community members to consider becoming involved in these associations.
