MUSIC NEWS

Congratulations to our Senior Choir on a wonderful performance in the Concert Hall on Monday evening. You did Orana very proud. A big thank you to Orana parents and staff members who attended and supported the students. Special thanks to Mrs Bowran, Mrs Green and Mr Barns for helping to supervise the children on the evening.

Due to the support the music program at Orana receives from parents and staff, we were awarded the Zenith Commendation Award for sustained improvement for the second consecutive year. Well done to every one. A great team effort.

Rehearsals for Week 10

Senior Choir - There will be no senior choir rehearsal on Monday 21 September. At this stage, Junior choir and band rehearsal will be on as usual. Please be aware that they may be cancelled as I have to attend to civic duties in Week 10 and at this stage I am unsure of my availability.

City of Canning Choir performance

The City of Canning will be opening the new War Memorial and Amphitheatre stage on Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November at 6.00pm. A combined school choir will be performing alongside the Canning City Brass Band for this event. Orana will be involved in the massed choir but we have been limited to 20 students. Year 4's have now received an invitation to perform at this event and I have one place remaining. If you are committing to this event, please ensure that by November you can still commit. Ms Draper needs these notes back as soon as possible so we can start rehearsing with the students involved.

New Band Members

We will be welcoming some new students to band from next term. Ms Draper will be sending band invites out to those students who tutors think are ready to be involved. Students need to reach a minimum standard before they are invited to join the band so get practising!

YEAR 6 CAKE STALL

The Year 6's will hold a cake stall at recess next Tuesday 22 September. Lots of delicious cakes, slices, jelly cups and other delights will be on sale, each costing 50 cents. As it is the Athletics Carnival Field Events day, parents may like to take advantage of the wonderful culinary skills of the Year 6's and their parents.
