Dear Parents

Confirmation Workshops

Students preparing for this Sacrament, along with their parents, are to participate in one of two Parent and Child Workshop being conducted this Thursday evening. You are invited to keep these young adults and their families in your thoughts and in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation later this year.

Fundraising Support

One of our Year 4 students, Lachlan Johnson, has commenced a fundraising program with his family. The purpose of the fundraising is to purchase and train an assistance dog for Lachlan, who has autism and requires a high level of individual support. There are two attached pieces of information with today's newsletter; the first is a general notice on assistance dogs and how they are of benefit for children like Lachlan; the second is in relation to a specific fundraiser in support of the Johnson Family's efforts to raise funds (a requirement of the Program is for fundraising to take place).

There will be a note regarding a Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser distributed to each child in the School tomorrow.

Toe-by-Toe Program

Last Term, under the direction and guidance of Mr Hofmeester, the school embarked on an individual literacy support program for students in the middle and upper primary year levels. With the program now in operation for 10 weeks, it seems an opportune time to provide some general feedback on how this is operating.

  • Toe-by-Toe operates four days per week Monday through Thursday commencing at 8.30am and finished by 8.50am.
  • The Program has been expanded and now includes 15 students from Year 3 through to Year 6.
  • We have 12 parents /grandparents who have generously given their time and service to the program on a semi-roster basis.
  • The program now runs efficiently and the children are progressing at a steady rate, or above individual expectations for many of these individuals.
  • The program itself is well grounded in proven research and we believe it is making a real difference to the literacy understanding and progression of these students.
  • In the words of one Year 3 student, " I like it because it helps me with my sounds in class".

On behalf of the students participating in the program, and the teachers who are being supported in their work, I would like to thank those parents and grandparents in our community for their efforts in the delivery of the program: Liz Bailey, Ann Bovet, Dianne Cooper, Katrina Cooper, Pam Godsall, Rachel Heron, Lynn Holmes, Kerry Jones, Gary McLaughlin, Kara Passi, Cherie Pettit, Michelle Puttick and Melissa Tan.
