MUSIC NEWS

The City of Canning Schools Concert is on Saturday 8 November at the Canning Town Hall at 12 noon.

The school band will no longer be attending this performance as a group because we are too big to fit into the venue. Instead we will be taking some instrumental ensembles. Please keep this date in your diary. Final details will be coming out early next term. We will be performing between 12 noon and 12.20pm.

CANTEEN NEWS

Sports Day order forms have been sent home today. These forms must be returned by Thursday 16 October (the first week of term 4). Please ensure all money accompany the order form in a lunch order bag.

As the children are in their faction colours and all years will be sitting together, you will only need one (1) order form per family. ALL orders should be on the one form. Kindy order forms have been sent home separately.

There is a separate section at the bottom of the form for spectators. Orders for parents, siblings and family members should be collected from the canteen at the commencement of lunch. A vegetarian option is available too so please see me at the canteen if you require this.

TOY CATALOGUE ORDERS

Orders from the Chalk and Parent Direct toy catalogues are now due. The last orders will be collected from the school office this Friday 26 September and will be submitted during the October school holidays. This will ensure delivery by mid-term 4. ORANA SCHOOL DISCO - FRIDAY 7 NOVEMBER

Mark the date in your calendar! The disco will be held in the school hall and hosted by "Bop till you Drop' and the P & F. Tickets are $5 per child, which includes a surprise plus a drink and chips as you leave. Kindy to Year 2: 4.45pm - 6.15pm, Yrs 3 to 6: 6.30pm - 8.00pm.

UNIFORM SHOP

Opening times for term 4 are: Tuesdays 8.30am - 10.30am and Thursdays 8.30am - 10.30am.

Please return all borrowed white interschool polo shirts as soon as possible. Shirts must be laundered please. Thank you for your cooperation.

VAC SWIM 2014-2015

Information regarding the VacSwim Programme was sent home last week. Enrolments for December/January are now open. Swimming pools and beaches are a vital part of our WA lifestyle, therefore it is important for every child to learn to swim and develop essential water safety skills. Enrolments are done on line. THE CATHOLIC MAN BREAKFAST SERIES

Hosted by the Most Rev Don Sproxton, Auxillary Bishop of Perth. 7.00am - 9.00am. Thursday 16 October, Duxton Hotel, 1 St Georges Terrace, Perth. Hear James McMahon share the story of how his Catholic faith has been formed through experience. James is the Commissioner for the Department of Corrective Services in WA. He is also the Deputy Chairman of the West Coast Eagles Football Club. This follows on from a 24-year career in the Australian Army which included Commanding Officer of the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) leading deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan and Timor Leste. He was personally awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) and the Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) for command and leadership in action.

The Catholic Man Breakfast Series is an opportunity for men to gather and be encouraged and inspired in their faith.

WILLETTON COMMUNITY GARDEN

A community garden is being developed on Glenmoy Avenue adjacent to the school kitchen garden at Rostrata Primary School. Community gardens may be communal/shared gardens, or allotment gardens - many gardens combine the two styles. If you are a community member or organization this is a great opportunity to share in the planning and design of the garden in Willetton with the potential to grow vegetables, herbs, indigenous plants and an orchard and build great community connections. Come and Try Day Saturday 25 October 12pm - 4pm @ the NEW community garden, Glenmoy Avenue, Willetton. Parking at Rostrata Avenue Shops.
