The School Band and Choirs will be performing at Friday assembly over the next few weeks. The School Band will perform tomorrow Friday 26 July. Junior Choir will perform in week 2, Friday 2 August and Senior Choir will perform in week 4, 16 August.

We have a very busy musical term ahead with the Performing Arts commencing next week. All students involved in choir or band performances should have received their performing arts notes. Please return the permission slips as soon as possible.

Canteen News

The WASCA (West Australian School Canteen Association) have recently revised their guidelines for certain items on the canteen menu. They have changed from green to amber as per the Traffic Light Program and include popper juice, juice bombs and slushies.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TERM 3 EVENTS

Cross Country Term 3

Our Orana Inter House Cross Country Carnival will be held in Week 5 on Tuesday 8 August. This means it's time to start preparing your body with motivation, determination and stamina!

To help our Years 3-6 students prepare for cross country, we will be running training sessions in the lead up to the event:

What: Cross Country Training / Running and Fitness Club

Please wear appropriate fitness clothing and bring a water bottle. Those who are normally in their PE uniform on any training day may attend training and then stay in their PE clothes. Those who normally wear their school uniform on training days may wear any appropriate clothing for training and then must put their full school uniform on immediately after training in time for class at 8.50am. This includes proper school shoes.

Where: Orana Catholic Primary School Oval

When: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.00am - 8.30am (weeks 1-8)

Who: Mrs Loretta Wesley, Miss Harrison, Years 3-6 students, any other parent volunteers who could offer assistance on the occasional Thursday.

Why: To increase fitness and coordination, have fun and learn new skills. See you there!

HEALTH CARE CARDS

In preparation for the processing of term three fee accounts, parents and guardians are asked to ensure that the school office has current copies of any Health Care Cards that are held. YEAR 3 DINNER

We hope everyone had a lovely break. Don't forget the Year 3 dinner this Friday 26 July at 7.30pm at "Il Ciao" Restaurant 771A Canning Highway in Applecross. OPEN FORUM ON DISABILITY

Emmanuel Centre is hosting an Open Forum on Disability, the Church and the Wider Community on Tuesday 30 July from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at the Emmanuel Centre 25 Windsor Street, Perth. If you are a person with a disability or a parent or carer of someone with a disability this is an opportunity for you to network with others and discuss some of the issues which are important to you. These could include some of the following or any issues that you want to raise such as education, employment, recreation, socialising, participation in the Church and preparation for the Sacraments. JMK KARATE FUN WELLBEING

Johnny Moran Karate teaches kids karate classes at Orana Primary, in the school hall.

Classes are held after school and are a great way for children of all ages to learn self-defense in a fun and safe environment.

Students who attend the schools on site After Care are collected and taken to the class in the hall and returned to After Care when their class is finished.
