Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to all of the staff and students who were involved in the planning and organisation of the celebration of Mary MacKillop Day last Friday. Today we held a wonderful Mass to celebrate the Assumption of Mary. Thank you to Mrs Woodgate and staff for organising. I would ask that you keep our Yr 3 students in your prayers as they make their commitment to the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Saturday and Sunday at Mass. Please keep in your prayers a child of one of our staff members who is seriously ill.

What a wonderful performance yesterday at St Benedict's Church in Applecross by our Senior and Junior Choirs. Their performances were outstanding and the standout of all the schools who had choirs performing. Well done to Mrs Draper and Mrs Marshall for the time and effort that they have put into preparing the choirs. We look forward to their further performances in the coming weeks. Many thanks to Miss Harrison for organising the TAG carnival on Tuesday. Our students participated well and were once again outstanding with the way that they represented the school.

School Open Night

Wednesday 4 September will be a School Open Night. Classrooms will be open from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Families are invited to come and have a wander through the classrooms. Please note it is not an opportunity for families to discuss the progress of their children but simply for children to showcase their work and classrooms to parents. If you wish to discuss the progress of your child/ren then you would need to make an appointment with the classroom teacher.

Parents not following school parking protocols still seems to be an issue, particularly with parking in the Kiss and Drive. This area is not to have cars parking there after 2:30pm in the afternoon as it causes issues with the drive through drop off and pick up route. Parents are not to park in the staff car park. Your help in this matter would be much appreciated. Also students are to be picked up from the green shed area or the back gate pick up area only. They are not to wait at the office area or in the quadrangle to be collected.

School fees are being sent out and I would remind families about their responsibility in regards to payment of school fees. There are a number of fees still outstanding. If there are concerns in dealing with payments please come and speak to me so as alternative arrangements can be made.

School Board

There is a School Board meeting tonight at 7:00pm in the school staffroom.

Conclusion of Term 3

Please note there is a pupil free day on Friday 27 September therefore Term 3 concludes for students Thursday 26 September. There are no other pupil free days this term.

Students Not Returning In 2014

For the purposes of future planning, we need to be aware if students will not be returning in 2014.

If you know that your child will not be returning to Orana, please inform the school office in writing as soon as possible.
