Dear Parents

I trust that the short mid-term break from School provided an opportunity for some down time and rest in order to re-energize for the remaining five weeks of the School Term.

The P&F held a morning tea last Friday as part of fundraising for the "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea". Thank you to those who assisted with this, in particular Paola Mena, for all her organizing and coordinating of the Event.

First Holy Communion Workshop

In preparation for this Sacrament, a parish-led parent and child workshop is being conducted tomorrow evening at the Ss John Paul Parish Hall at 5.30pm and repeated again at 7.00pm.

P&F Meeting

This year P&F Meetings will alternate between an evening meeting (Week 3 of each term) and a daytime meeting (Week 7 of each term). In accordance with this, the next P&F Meeting is to be held this Friday morning immediately following the whole school assembly. The meeting will take place in the School Library. All parents (and younger siblings) are welcome to attend.

Principal Review

Under the terms of my employment here at Orana Catholic Primary School, a formal review of my performance is to take place next week (Monday-Wednesday). Data sources for this process include myself, a cross sample of Staff, the Parish Priest, and parent representatives from Orana through the School Board and P&F Executive. All data sources have presented written submissions and, next week, will participate in a formal interview process with the external reviewers. A selection of students from the school are also involved in the review.

Prayer Focus Area

The School Board is seeking input from the community into establishing a religious focus area within the school grounds. Interested parents and community members are invited to submit their ideas which will then be taken back to the Board for consideration. For the purposes of consistency, it is requested that the format for each proposal be the same using the following headings:

Proposal Heading: (e.g. Harmony Garden; Grotto)
Rationale: (Why is this of importance; how does it fit into the School ethos, culture and beliefs)
Description of what is being proposed: (include suggested location/s within the school; links to the past, present and future of Orana Catholic Primary School; possible usage; what maintenance and care is envisaged; specific requirements needed - lighting, water, security)
Suggested Cost: (and how the Project might be funded)
Any additional information you feel is relevant.

All submissions will be considered by representatives of the School Board and the wider community. The closing date for submissions has been extended to Friday 12 June 2015. Please submit these to the Front Office addressed as Prayer Focus Area.

Semester 1 Reports 2015

This year Orana will be changing the way we deliver your child's report. Your child's report will now be paperless. You will be able to access it through our parent online portal called Coneqt-p. To access the portal each parent will be issued a username and password. Your username and password will be forwarded to you via email over the next week, do not delete the email. If you do not receive an email by Friday 12 June or you have not updated your email address with the School, please notify the Front Office in person or by emailing

Please ensure you check your "Junk Mail/Spam" folder before contacting the Office. When you receive your username and password you will be able to access Coneqt-p but the Reports will not be available to view until the last week of School this Term.

For this week's whole school assembly we will be hearing from the middle and upper primary year levels and have honour certificates for the same year levels. All are welcome.
