A final reminder to families to return envelopes containing lapathon money. The P&F are thrilled with the response so far and hope to have a final figure for their meeting next Monday evening.

MUSIC NEWS

Performing Arts Festival

If there are any students wishing to enter the Performing Arts Festival as a Soloist please see Ms Draper for an entry form. Students must be Year 4 and above to enter and meet minimum requirements. The Orana Instrumental teachers will be entering a number of students and will notify you of this. Students who learn an instrument outside of school are also eligible to be entered by their music teachers. There are categories for all instruments including vocal and piano solos. There is also a category for solo bible reading should anyone be interested in that. If you would like the information and entry forms please see Mrs. Draper. Entries are due in by Wednesday 15th May.

Term 2 New Rehearsal Times

  • Tuesday 8.15 am Junior Choir (Yr 2-3)

  • Wednesday 8.15 am Senior Choir (Yr 4-6)

  • Thursday 8.00 - 9.10 am School Band

All rehearsals take place in the music room. Please be on time. If you are late to rehearsal you need to come in quietly. Lateness is not an excuse for missing the rehearsal.

Rehearsals are more effective when students know their notes and choir words! Have you practiced today?

Free Music Stands

Mrs. Draper has 3 more fold-up music stands looking for a good home. Come and see Mrs. Draper in the music room on Friday morning if you would like one.

UNIFORM SHOP

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the size 4 tracksuit pants will not be available until week 4. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Students who borrowed white interschool polo shirts last term should return them as soon as possible please. Shirts need to be laundered prior to returning them to the Uniform Shop. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

As of week 3 (week commencing 20 May) the Uniform Shop will only be open on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am - 10.30am.

PARENTS & CARERS WORKSHOPS - TERM 2 2013

Circle of Security Parenting: for parents and carers of children aged 0-4 years.

This course consists of 7 sessions and includes viewing of DVD sections, presentation of some content, group discussions, reflections and some group work. The dates are 9, 16, 30 May and 6, 13, 20, 27 June from 12.30pm - 2.30pm. The venue is Brookman House, Child & Family Centre, 25 Brookman Avenue, Langford. Bookings are essential. 123 Magic & Emotion Coaching:

Learn strategies for managing challenging behaviour and increase skills in encouraging and promoting positive behaviour in children aged 2-12 years. (Three sessions). Promoting Positive Behaviours: for parents and carers of children aged 0-12 years

A one-session workshop aimed to help parents and carers understand why their children behave in certain ways and strategies to promote positive behaviours. Monday 17 June from 9.30am - 11.30am at Brookman House Child & Family Centre, 25 Brookman Avenue, Langford.

PARENTING SATURDAY - PERTH TICKET - 17 AUGUST $55.00

Hear not one, but two fantastic speakers in one morning! A morning of inspiration, motivation and learning. Popular parenting educator Michael Grose is joined by relationship-specialist Bruce Sullivan for a rare morning of learning, loving and laughter. Both speakers will present for 90 minutes and the morning will end on a high with a 30 minute Question and Answer session with both speakers. Saturday 20 July from 9.00am - 1.00pm at Methodist Ladies college, Claremont. Special early bird price $55 ($67 after 14 June).

HOW TO LISTEN TO YOUR TWEENS AND GET THEM TO LISTEN TO YOU!

DSF is running a parent workshop next Wednesday evening (15 May) from 630pm to 8.30pm The workshop will explore different levels of listening, how to show that you are listening and three tools to take away which will enhance the listening skills in your family.
