Dear Parents and Carers

School Board

The School Board would like to inform the Orana School Community that the Director of Catholic Education has today announced that Allen McMahon has been appointed to the position of Principal at St Columba's Primary School, South Perth . The role will commence at the start of the 2014 school year. We wish him well.

School Mass

It was nice to see so many parents at our school mass. Thank you to the readers, singers, musicians and everyone who participated to make the mass a prayerful celebration.

Sacramental Information

On Wednesday the Year Six students, along with other parish children, attended a Confirmation retreat at St Mary's Cathedral. It was a wonderful experience for students and teachers. Thank you to the parents who gave support on the day.

Lightning Carnival

Our senior students had a successful and exciting day competing in the inter-school lightning carnival. Orana students played football, soccer, volleyball and netball against teams from primary schools in our region. Students were well behaved and displayed good sportsmanship. All teams played many games and achieved some positive results. The volleyball "A" team and the netball "D" team won a shield for their division. The football and volleyball "B" teams came second in their division.

Carnivals rely heavily on the support of parents and a number of Orana parents spent many hours organising and training our teams. Thank you to the many helpers who have given up their time every Friday afternoon and also on the carnival day. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated. Thank you also to the parents who assisted on the carnival day or came to support our teams.

School Reports

All parents should have had a parent / teacher meeting this semester as a way of discussing their child's progress. Written reports are another way of communicating this information to parents. Reports for students from Years One to Six will be sent home with students on Tuesday. An explanation sheet will be included.

This Friday there will be a whole school assembly at 9am. Senior honour awards will be announced. All families are welcome to attend.
