Matthew 19:14

But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Dear Parents and Carers

Our term is fast coming to a conclusion. The students have been working extremely well and I am sure they will be looking forward to reports being sent home at the end of the term.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of the young boy killed in an accident in Nollamara this week. It is a very difficult time for the family and school as they come to terms with this terrible tragedy.

Next Tuesday at 11:00am in the school hall there will be a family Mass for students from Pre Primary to Year 4. Families are invited to attend and parents and students are able to sit together during the Mass. Congratulations to our Year 4 students who celebrated their First Eucharist last Saturday and Sunday. It was a wonderful celebration of their Faith journey and they were a credit to our families, school and parish. Many thanks must go to Mrs Green, Mrs Morcombe and Mildred Rego for preparing the students and organizing the two Masses.

I will be away for the last week of term attending a Principal's Conference interstate. Mrs Woodgate and Miss Whyte will be in charge while I am away.

School Reports

A reminder that school reports will be sent home on Tuesday July 2. They will not be available prior to this day. Reports not collected before the end of term will be mailed home.

School Board

Tonight there is a meeting at St Benedict's in Applecross at which the Director Of Catholic Education will talk to school representatives concerning the Federal Government funding of Catholic Schools. Also being discussed will be the election strategy that our Catholic Education System will propose that school families follow leading into the upcoming Federal election. Representing the school will be Marina Spence (School Board Chair), Una Henderson (P&F President) and myself. Information from the night will be circulated to families in next week's newsletter.

I would remind families about their responsibility in regard to payment of school fees. There are a number of fees still outstanding. If there are concerns in dealing with payments please come and speak to me so as alternative arrangements can be made.

Animals on School grounds

A gentle reminder that unfortunately animals are not to be brought onto the school grounds as we have a number of students who suffer serious allergies. There is also the safety factor that a dog or cat may bite or scratch as they may be provoked unintentionally. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Students not Returning in Term 3

For the purposes of future planning, we need to be aware if students will not be returning in Term 3. If you know that your child will not be returning to Orana next term, please inform the school in writing as soon as possible.

Term Dates

Please note Monday 22 July is a pupil free day. This is due to staff professional development.
