Dear Parents

School Incursion (Cyber Safety)

We had three Officers from the Canning Vale Police Station address the students last Friday afternoon on the appropriate use of technology when online. It is important for parents to be aware of what care and vigilance should be employed in circumstances where children may well be communicating with others in the cyber world. The message has not changed and is basically that children should remain alert and aware without being alarmed. Parents, the message to us is the same - there simply is no substitute for ongoing vigilance when our own children are using technology.

The Australian government website Cyber [Smart] offers practical, well researched tips and guides for students, teachers and parents when dealing with such issues. The following is a good starting point for parents website.

Stations of the Cross

This Friday evening, our Year 4 students will be leading the Ss John Paul Parish congregation through the Stations of the Cross. I encourage anyone from the school community who is able to make this to do so. Stations commence at 7.00pm and are conducted in the church of Ss John Paul, Willetton.

School Mass

Next Wednesday 25 March there is to be a whole school Mass (Years 1-6) in the school hall commencing at 11.00am. The Feast of the Annunciation commemorates the visit of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, during which he informed her that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is celebrated on 25 March each year. All parents and parishioners are most welcome to attend.

School Parent/Teacher Interviews

These take place next Wednesday 25 March commencing during the day. Normal classes will cease at 12.30pm on this day to allow staff time to conduct interviews with all the parents of children in their class. Parents are able to take their children home as from 12.30pm. For some this is not possible and while normal lessons will not be held on this afternoon, those children remaining at school will be supervised by the teaching staff not involved in the interview process. OSHC will operate on this day from 3.10pm.

P&F Meeting

In 2015 the P&F meetings will be structured so that every second meeting is a daytime meeting to be held on the Friday of Week 7 of that term. This means that this week, immediately following the whole school assembly, P&F meeting will take place in the School Library. Parents (and in this case also younger siblings) are welcome to attend.

There is the usual weekly whole school assembly this Friday with honour certificates for those in the middle and upper year levels.
