Everyone welcome and many thanks to our loyal tippers and also to our new tippers. It has been the best year yet.

The next P&F fundraiser is the Lapathon. It will take place on Friday 12 April after Assembly. The students love this activity and are really motivated by the idea of getting as many sponsors and walking as many laps of the oval as possible. The P&F will use all monies raised to pay for EduDance to come to school later in the year. Our students showed how much they loved performing in last year's school production and we know they will be thrilled about having EduDance on the calendar. Sponsorship sheets will go home next Thursday and we encourage our families to seek sponsors in a safe manner for their children. Looking forward with anticipation to a successful event.

Musical Instrument Cases

All instruments that are arriving at school need to be delivered to the music room at the start of the day. They should not be put in classrooms or left outside on the benches. Some classes have a large number of students learning and there is not enough room in classrooms to store them. Leaving them outside on the benches is not very secure or safe when they can be knocked or damaged throughout the day.

There have few a few occasions this year already when students have a recess or lunch lesson and find they cannot get to their instrument because their classroom is locked. There is plenty of room in the music room and it is accessible throughout the entire day.

Students also need to remember to take their instruments home as Mrs. Draper has spotted a few cases that have not gone home all week. Home practice is essential in order to make progress. Please remember to come and collect your instrument at the end of the day.

Students in Yrs 3 and 4 are expected to bring their recorder and book to all class music lessons. If the recorder lives in children's school bags then it is always at school for lessons and always at home to practice.

Yamaha Australian National Band Championships

For the first time in 34 years, Perth will be hosting the National Band Championships. 41 bands from around Australia will be descending on The University of WA over the Easter long weekend. Brass bands will be performing on Friday and Sunday with Concert Bands on the Saturday. Solo and Ensemble events take place on Easter Monday.

On Saturday morning, there will be a Street Parade of Bands in Northbridge starting in Russell Square and heading up James Street to finish at the Plaza. This is an exciting spectacle for the public.

Entry at UWA is $10 per adult per day and children U/13 are free. If you are not doing anything over the Easter weekend why not take some of the budding Orana musicians to a National Championship? It might be another 34 years before it comes back to Perth! More information can be found on this http://websitenationalbands2013.com
