Dear Parents and Carers

We welcome our new Pope, Francis 1, as the leader of our worldwide Catholic Community. Please keep him in your prayers and let us all pray that the Holy Spirit will give him the wisdom, understanding and courage to carry out the enormous task that lies ahead.

The Season of Lent

God has not always promised skies of blue,

Flower strewn pathways all our life through;

God has not promised sun without rain,

Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

But God has promised strength for the day,

Rest for the labour, light for the way;

Grace for the trials, help from above,

Unfailing sympathy, undying love

Commitment Masses

This weekend the Commitment Masses will be held for all children receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion this year. It is important that families attend one of the following Masses - 6.30pm Saturday evening or either 9.00am or 10.30am Sunday.

Year 4 Class Liturgy

The students in Year 4 will be holding a class liturgy at 11am on Thursday 21 March. Parents are welcome to attend.

Swimming Carnival

This week the children in Years 4-6 took part in a very successful swimming carnival. Not only did the students have a lot of fun cheering for their teams but they are also to be congratulated for the magnificent way in which they behaved. Mr Rijs is to be commended for the highly efficient way in which the carnival was organised. A big thank you to the army of parent helpers who helped make the day run so smoothly.

Swimming training will continue on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Quality Catholic Schooling Survey

Each year Catholic Schools undertake a review process aimed at identifying priority areas to focus our efforts to improve our schools. Schools use a variety of data as a basis for determining areas for improvement. Continuing on from 2012, all schools will conduct an annual survey to gather information from staff, students, parents and board members on their views of the School. This

data will provide additional information for the review process. All staff and two board members are invited to complete the survey.

Sixty parents and a number of classes will be selected and invited to participate. The opinion of members of our community will provide valuable information for our review process and I encourage those who have been asked to participate to complete the survey.

If you are one of the lucky sixty parents who are asked to complete the survey, you will receive a paper copy of it along with a blank return envelope. Please take the time to complete the survey, seal it in the return envelope and return it to the Administration Office by Friday, 22 March at the latest.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Mr McMahon at school.
