Dear Parents

Tomorrow, Friday 30 November there will be three year levels conducting their orientation meetings. 2013 year level Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten parents will meet at 9.30am (School Library) for a meeting at which time relevant information about the Early Years Learning philosophy, content and housekeeping matters will be addressed. The meeting will also include an opportunity for a tour of the school to take place. A similar meeting for Year 1 parents (2013) will be held at 11.00am. This meeting will also be conducted in the School Library. It is important that at least one parent from each family be present for the meetings, held at this time to ensure that parents and children are informed well in advance of starting school or transitioning to a different learning environment within the school setting. Orientation and information sessions for other year levels will be held early in 2013.

DVD of 'The Land of Oz'

Today, the students will be bringing home their DVDs of our school musical. I hope families enjoy watching the performances again. The DVD is of high quality with great sound, closeups and long shots.

There is still an opportunity to purchase the DVD. Today, order forms have been sent home to those families who have not yet responded in the hope consideration may be given to supporting the efforts the school has made in providing commemorative digital records of this fantastic collaborative event.

Final Mass

On Friday 7 December a whole School Mass will be conducted in the School Hall commencing at 9.00am. This is a great opportunity for the school community to gather together to give thanks for the school year and to pray for future intentions. All families are most welcome to attend. Immediately after the Mass one Year 5 student will be announced as the 2013 Loreto Award recipient in recognition of being a student who their own peers and staff at Orana view as espousing the virtues of Mary Ward, founder of the Loreto Sisters.

Farewell Assembly

Also on Friday 7 December the school will gather to farewell our Year 6 students with a special assembly being held starting at 2.20pm. This is an opportunity to acknowledge the leadership displayed throughout 2012 by our graduating students. At the same time the Year 6's will hand over this responsibility to the incoming 2013 Year 6 class.

Cricket Carnival

Congratulations to students in Year 5 and 6 who represented the school at the inter-school cricket carnival earlier this week. Year 5 Girls and Year 6 Girls completed the carnival undefeated in their three games, both finishing in second position missing out on percentage only from winning. Year 5 Boys finished with a 2:1 win:lose ratio and, whilst not securing a win in any of their three games, our Year 6 Boys remained both competitive and good-natured throughout the day. The behaviour of our students was again exemplary throughout the day. Well done to all.

Tomorrow's assembly is a whole school assembly with honour certificates for students in the middle and senior classes.
