Dear Parents

School Production

Next week marks a significant occasion here at Orana as the community comes together to celebrate with the public performances of "The Land of Oz". Behind the scenes there has been an enormous amount of work, from parents in so many ways, from our students Kindergarten through Year 6 and, most significantly, from every single staff member here at Orana who have had countless hours meeting, planning, preparing, discussing, making, rehearsing and creating for the Production. With the knowledge I have of the extra commitment given by staff here at Orana, it is my request that you and your family thoroughly enjoy next week's performances and at the same time reflect on the fantastic combined school community effort that has been given.

Next Monday 29 October a special Production newsletter will be distributed electronically and in hard copy to all families. This will cover important information pertaining to arrival and departures, recess and lunchtimes next week, as well as any other last minute notices requiring parents to be informed.

Please note: both evening performances are SOLD OUT and we are unable to accomodate any further ticket enquiries for these shows. However, there are tickets available for both matinee performances.

Year 3 students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this evening. We wish them well as they take this important step in their lives as Catholics. Mrs Morcombe, Mrs Green, Mrs Owens and Mrs Harrold are to be congratulated and thanked as the classroom teachers who have prepared the students so well for this occasion.

School Sports Carnival

Congratulations to the students for the way they competed in the school sports carnival on Tuesday of this week. With the weather for the day being almost perfect, children participated in a spirit of friendly competitiveness and support for one another. Thank you to parents and grandparents for making the effort to be here and to those parents who assisted throughout the day, to Year 6 students for their leadership and, to the staff, especially Mr John Rijs, our sports teacher for again producing a well planned and executed carnival.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Board and Parents & Friends will be held at Orana on Monday 12 November 2012 commencing at 7.00pm. Nomination forms for both were sent home yesterday and I ask that parents consider nominating themselves.

Long Service Leave

I will be taking some leave as from the start of the 2013 school year. Mr Allen McMahon, currently the Principal at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Busselton, will be the school Principal at Orana during my absence.

Whole school assembly tomorrow with honour certificates for those students in the junior classes.
