Christmas Concert 2015

On a beautiful December evening, our school performed a Christmas Concert for our families on the school oval. It was a full house. The air was filled with the talented voices of 400+ students who entertained themselves and their families with such good cheer. It was a sight to behold once the candles were lit for Carols by Candlelight once the sun went down. Well done, everyone!

Open Night 2015

What a sensational evening at our school on Wednesday 2 September. The school was abuzz with the happy chatter of visitors, the school band performing confidently and loudly and excited students eager to show off their work and classrooms to their families. Hundreds of people came over the two hours and staff received many compliments for the work they do with the children. Our Year 6 students guided new families through the school and were most impressive with their ambassadorial skills. The school looked fantastic and the classrooms were bright and arty. Lots of hard work happening all over the school. We know we belong to a great school and love to work hard to make it get better and better. To see more photos, click Read More.

Great Teamwork

How cool! Today, the Year 5 classes handed over 2 large boxes of footy boots, jumpers and shorts to Kicks4Kidz which is an organisation that helps underprivileged children in our north-west. We are so appreciative of the support of our families and also the Willetton Junior Football club for donating 70 Auskick jumpers. GENEROSITY in action. Well done everyone!

Generosity Shines Out through Creativity

Generosity Shines Out through Creativity

One of our school values is GENEROSITY. We look for signs of giving freely, caring deeply, wanting to help, taking an interest in others, being of service and treating others gently.

There is no greater example of generosity in our community than the creative work of Simone Paz, mother of Alex, Sophie and Ryan. Since 2014, Simone has been writing, illustrating and publishing books to bring the joy of reading to young children whilst helping the less fortunate.

Faction Swimming Carnival 2015

Faction Swimming Carnival 2015

Last Tuesday, our students went off for the first time under their new faction names to participate in the annual swimming carnival. Blue is now MacKillop: Gold is Francis; Green is Ward and Red is Salvado. It was a terrific day in terms of sportsmanship, participation and congeniality. The photos show just how much the students enjoy this competition and how cool they must have felt on such a warm day. A huge thanks to Mr Chatt for organising such a seamless carnival on the day and for the many hours of preparation in the lead-up.

Our Empathy

For lunch many people in the world have only a bowl of rice. To experience this, we got the Orana community involved in this to feel what it is like if this was our only daily meal. Thank you to all who took part. It was a great expression of empathy for others in the world and the students participated in great spirit.

Generosity Shines Through

Generosity Shines Through

Last week, the St Vincent de Paul Blanket Appeal was conducted at our school. In return for being able to come to school wearing pyjamas, children were asked to donate a blanket to the St Vincent de Paul Appeal which supports those in need. As we enter into the coldest months of the year, this effort on our behalf went a long way to supporting many others.

The Hon Dr Mike Nahan, State Treasurer and MLA representing the seat of Riverton, visited our school to make his own presentation as part of this Appeal.

We are delighted to announce that 386 blankets were donated. What a brilliant effort and a wonderful manifestation of our school values - Generosity, Respect and Excellence. Well done to all of our students and families on their participation and contribution on the day.

Field Trip to The Apple Store

Field Trip to The Apple Store

Our Year 4 students recently made a Field Trip to the Apple Store, Garden City to further their understandings of how their personal laptops can assist with their learning. Their session on iMovie took place in the front of the store where they were able to polish their iMovie skills with the help of several knowledgeable Apple Store staff members. Our students were encouraged to use the latest devices to capture short videos to send to their laptops. They were instantly engaged and came up with some very creative projects in a short time. It was a very unique experience for our students who enjoyed being in such a 'cool classroom' for several hours.
