Last week, the fabulously talented students of Orana Catholic Primary School entertained 1200 audience members over 4 performances of the school musical, The Land of Oz.

The show had it all - there was dancing, singing, acting, instruments and public speaking galore!

We promised you "we had big kids and little kids and they were going to rock and roll you" and wow, did those children deliver!

The story unfolded energetically as the Kindy Dinosaurs, the PrePrimary Wombats, the Year 1 Pioneers and the Year 2 Kangaroos enthralled us during the recount of early Australian history. Beautifully costumed dancers gave us a sense of the mystical spirit of our beautiful land whilst the multicultural parade heightened our awareness of the mix of cultures. Outstanding performances by the 'From LittleThings' group and the 'Beds are Burning' boys outlined the huge disadvantage felt by our Indigenous people. The Year 4's celebrated change while the Year 5's rejoiced in the renewal of Aboriginal culture. The vibe coming from the Year 3's was that tomorrow needs always to be a better day. The Grand Finale saw everyone back on stage to hear our school rap about values and sing about our hope for the future - a song about ending disparity and Aboriginal disadvantage in this country.

In order to keep this powerful message going in the minds of our students and families we have submitted a video clip to enter into the CREATivE CHANGE GenerationOne School Competition. GenerationOne is a movement to bring all Australians together to end the disparity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in one generation. We are very proud of the efforts put in and are happy to announce that our clip is featured on the GenerationOne website.
